Gerry Waldron has performed the arborist's hat trick by identifying three tree species previously unknown to Canada. He holds botany and horticulture degrees from the University of Guelph and has worked in the fields of agricultural research, field biology and environmental planning.

Like all books by Himmelfarb, this one is erudite, well written, informative, insightful and sure to upset the politically correct which for me makes it five stars.In first presenting the historical information about Darwin and his theory and then analyzing their historical and cultural effects, the author does a comprehensive job in presenting a balanced picture. The book illustrates succinctly the career and the jobs he performed that gives students today a clear picture of the career as a NPS Ranger. It is a quality book with quality illustrations. You can read about it in his newest (and best in my mind) book, but even better, when you talk with Neil, you can feel it. One really requires some getting used to it. Good insight and easy to follow.. I read a lot of this material the first time around, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it held up well. He's a complete sceptic when it comes to things like that – if science can't explain it it doesn't happen for him, so when I'd said the theory about water taking on the properties of different crytals for healing was a step too far, even for some one open minded as I consider myself, I was astonished when he disagreed.
